The Costa del Sol is one of the better-equipped coastlines in Spain for visitors with reduced mobility, largely because so many of its beaches sit behind long, flat promenades. This guide lists the beaches in our database with adapted access.

What “accessible” usually means here

  • Ramps or level access from the promenade to the sand.
  • Wooden or matting walkways across the sand towards the water.
  • Adapted toilets and showers.
  • Reserved parking close to the access point.

Assisted bathing

Several municipalities — including Málaga city, Estepona, Fuengirola and Torremolinos — run an assisted bathing service in season, with trained staff, amphibious chairs and floating aids. It normally operates only during the summer months and often requires booking in advance through the town council.

Before you go

Walkways are usually installed for the bathing season and removed afterwards, so a beach that is fully accessible in July may not be in February. Assisted bathing hours are limited and vary by municipality. Call the local council or the beach service to confirm before making the trip.
