Getting there
By car: free parking at the entrance to the natural area. Capacity is limited — in August it fills before 10am. Alternative: the Cabopino marina car park (paid). No direct public transport: a taxi from Marbella or Fuengirola costs €12-18, or you can cycle in from the N-340.

The Artola Dunes: a natural treasure
The Artola Dunes are the only surviving active coastal dune system in Málaga province. The signposted 2 km trail through them is one of the most surprising nature walks on the Costa del Sol: sand piled up by the wind over centuries, specialised dune vegetation and views over the Mediterranean from the top of the dunes. Combining a beach day with a proper walk is something few beaches in the region can offer.
