Real de Zaragoza is one of the best-known beaches in Marbella, and not because of its sand: this is where several of the landmark beach clubs of the Costa del Sol are concentrated — the kind where a Sunday lunch can run on until sunset.
Getting there
From the A-7 at Marbella, between the town centre and Puerto Banús. Free parking on the nearby streets and valet service at the establishments along this stretch. The promenade reaches here from both directions.

The beach club phenomenon
Marbella invented the Spanish beach club model: beach, restaurant, music and Balinese beds all in one place. Real de Zaragoza is one of its epicentres. Two things are worth knowing: the sand is public — nobody can stop you putting your towel down — and the establishments are expensive, with booking effectively compulsory in summer.
What the beach is like
Around a kilometre of dark, coarse sand, wide, well maintained and with calm water protected by breakwaters. The entry into the sea is gradual and the waves almost always gentle, which makes it perfectly workable for families despite its reputation as a scene.
One tip
If you’re planning to eat along this stretch, book. And if you’re only going to the beach, arrive before eleven to find free parking without circling.
