West of Málaga city centre, La Misericordia is the beach chosen by residents of the left bank of the Guadalmedina. With 1,800 metres of fine sand, a Blue Flag and excellent public transport links, it’s one of the best-equipped town beaches in the city.
Getting there
Excellent connections: EMT routes 14, 21 and 31 stop directly. Metro line 1 plus a connecting bus. Coming by public transport is the sensible choice: parking in the area is paid and in heavy demand. By car: car park on Paseo de Sancha or metered parking on Avenida de Velázquez.

The beach of western Málaga
While La Malagueta draws the international tourists beside the port, La Misericordia has a more local, family profile. The Club Náutico El Candado, at the eastern end, is one of the most exclusive in Málaga and gives the surroundings a different look from other town beaches. The view back towards the Guadalmedina river and the old town from the water is among the prettiest in the city.
What to do nearby
Málaga’s historic centre, with the Picasso Museum and the Alcazaba, is 15 minutes away by bus or on foot through the Paseo del Parque. Málaga airport is 15 minutes away, which makes this a good option for one last swim before flying home.
