Santa Amalia is one of the central Fuengirola beaches, on the western stretch of the promenade heading towards the marina and Sohail Castle. It’s a town beach in the best sense: everything within reach, full facilities and life at any hour.
Getting there
By Cercanías line C-1, Fuengirola station (ten minutes’ walk) or Los Boliches. By car, take the A-7 exits for Fuengirola centre; there are underground car parks and metered parking. In summer, the train is always a better idea than the car.

The Fuengirola promenade
It runs seven continuous kilometres, flat and well surfaced, one of the longest in Spain. It follows the whole seafront of the town, from Carvajal to Sohail Castle, a fortress of Moorish origin dating from the 10th century that now hosts concerts in summer. You can walk or cycle the whole thing.
What the beach is like
Dark, coarse sand, wide, with breakwaters keeping the water calm and a gradual entry. It’s particularly comfortable with children. Occupancy runs high in summer: Fuengirola is one of the busiest tourist destinations in the province.
With children
Fuengirola is probably the most family-oriented town on the whole Costa del Sol: calm beach, flat promenade for pushchairs, parks, the Bioparc and a funfair in summer. If you’re travelling with small children and want everything to be easy, this is your base.
