For snorkelling, water clarity and safe access matter more than a permanent ranking. Maro and Las Alberquillas sit by the protected cliff area; Carabeo offers a Nerja alternative closer to town. None guarantees good visibility every day.
Before entering
Check waves, wind, flags and depth. Do not swim alone or enter boating lanes. Use appropriate equipment and avoid touching marine life or the seabed.
Protected waters
Maro-Cerro Gordo protects marine habitats too. Check the rules of the natural area and local signs before visiting a cove or booking an activity. If conditions are poor, choose a coastal walk instead.
