Playamar is the stretch of Torremolinos coastline running east from El Bajondillo towards Los Álamos and the airport. It’s one of the widest beaches in the town and, being a little removed from the busiest tourist area, considerably less dense than El Bajondillo at the height of August.
Getting there
By Cercanías line C-1, Torremolinos or Montemar Alto stations, then on foot or by town bus. By car, take the A-7 exits for Torremolinos; there are paid car parks and metered parking, plus some free areas at the eastern end.

The promenade
Torremolinos has a continuous promenade of about seven kilometres linking La Carihuela, El Bajondillo, Playamar and Los Álamos, and connecting westwards with Benalmádena. It’s flat, wide and busy at any hour: one of the best places in the province for an evening walk.
What the beach is like
Around 1,500 metres of dark, coarse sand, very wide, with breakwaters and a gradual entry. It’s well maintained and well equipped. Occupancy is high in summer but far more bearable than in the centre thanks to its width.
The espeto, here too
Although the espeto originated in the Axarquía, Torremolinos turned it into a mass phenomenon in the 1960s. At Playamar and La Carihuela there are still beach bars grilling sardines in a boat over wood in full view of everyone. It’s still worth it.
