Riviera del Sol is one of the large residential developments of Mijas Costa, with a very settled international population — British, Scandinavian, Dutch — living here year-round. Its beach inherits that character: facilities open in winter, a quiet atmosphere and none of the extreme seasonality found elsewhere.
Getting there
From the A-7 (old N-340), Riviera del Sol exit, between Fuengirola and La Cala de Mijas. Free parking on the development’s streets and areas beside the promenade. Fuengirola – Marbella intercity buses stop on the main road.

What it’s like
Around 1,000 metres of dark, coarse sand, with breakwaters sheltering the swimming area and generally calm water. It’s a comfortable, well-maintained beach with moderate occupancy even in August.
A beach for all seasons
The real advantage here is the continuity of services out of season. In November or February, when half the Costa del Sol shuts down, the beach bars and restaurants here stay open because the resident clientele doesn’t leave. For anyone travelling in winter, it’s one of the best bases on the central coast.
Around here
The coastal boardwalk links Riviera del Sol with El Chaparral and La Cala de Mijas on a wooden walkway beside the sea. Inland, fifteen minutes away, is Mijas Pueblo, one of the most visited white villages in the province.
